Who was Alexandru Philippide?
Alexandru A. Philippide was one of the most acclaimed Romanian poets during the first half of the XXth century. He also translated in Romanians, among others, Lermontov and Baudelaire. His translations from Lermontov were even awarded. His poems, while in a Modernist tone, are heavily influenced by Romanticism and, in his later volumes, by Neoclassicism.
