Who is Ann Corcoran?

Ann Kathleen Corcoran, an Australian politician, was an Australian Labor Party member of the House of Representatives from 12 August 2000 to the 2007 election, representing the Division of Isaacs, Victoria.

She was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and was educated at Swinburne College of Technology and Monash University. Her father, Robert Corcoran, a published author, was a leading figure in the ALP split of 1955, giving evidence to the Federal Executive in favour of federal leader H.V. Evatt. She was an accountant and business manager for a local private school before entering politics.

Anne Corcoran was elected in a by-election necessitated by the suicide of the previous Member for Isaacs, Greg Wilton.

She lost her endorsement as ALP candidate for Isaacs in March 2006 to Mark Dreyfus QC. She retired at the 2007 election.

She has acted as Student Ombudsman at Monash University since November 2007.
