Who was Ian Onslow Dennistoun?
Second husband of Almina, Countess of Carnarvon, the widow of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, discoverer with Howard Carter of the Tomb of Tutankhamun.
Colonel Dennistoun's first wife was Dorothy Muriel Webster ( 1888-1980), whom he divorced in Paris in 1921. He married Lady Carnarvon on 19 December 1923.
In 1925 Colonel Dennistoun was sued by his first wife, Dorothy Dennistoun in 1925 in a scandalous case that rocked London Society.
Dennistoun served in Jamaica as ADC to Sir William Manning ( 1913-4) and was on the Supreme War Council , Versailles ( 1917-9) . He retired from the army in 1920.
