Who was Ignác Goldziher?

Ignác Goldziher, often credited as Ignaz Goldziher, was a Hungarian scholar of Islam. Along with the German Theodore Nöldeke and the Dutch Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje, he is considered the founder of modern Islamic studies in Europe.
