Who was Johnny Austin?
Johnny Austin was a musician born in Vineland, New Jersey. His name was originally John A. Augustine.
He played trumpet with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, parting ways with that band in 1939. He formed the Johnny Austin Orchestra in 1947. The Austin Band was never recorded. Johnny's playing can be heard on recordings of Jan Savitt.
