Who was Kama Chinen?
Kama Chinen was a Japanese supercentenarian, who, at the age of 114 years 124 days, became the oldest validated living person when American supercentenarian Gertrude Baines died on 11 September 2009. At the age of 114 years 331 days, she became the last person born in 1895 when American supercentenarian Neva Morris died on 6 April 2010. She died on 2 May 2010, eight days before her 115th birthday. At the time of her death, she was the 27th oldest verified person ever, the 2nd oldest verified Japanese person ever and the oldest verified person ever from Okinawa.
