Who is Rye Barcott?

Rye Barcott is author of It Happened on the Way to War. He is a former U.S. Marine and cofounder of Carolina for Kibera, an acclaimed non-governmental organization that uses a unique model of participatory development to break cycles of violence and develop leaders in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2011. President Barack Obama appointed him to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board as a representative of the veteran community in 2012.
