Who was Yu Fan?
Yu Fan, style name Zhongxiang, was an official of the state of Eastern Wu in the Three Kingdoms period. Formerly a subordinate of Wang Lang, the Administrator of Kuaiji, he surrendered to the warlord Sun Ce after the latter occupied Kuaiji and other territories in the Jiangdong region in a series of military campaigns between 194 and 199 CE. After Sun Ce's death in 200 CE, Yu Fan continued serving under the former's younger brother and successor, Sun Quan, who declared himself 'Emperor' and established the Eastern Wu regime in 229.
