Who is Tamás Buday?
Tamás Buday is a Hungarian sprint canoer who competed from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won bronze medals in the C-2 500 m and C-2 1000 m events at Montreal in 1976.
Buday also won thirteen medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with four gold, five silvers, and four bronzes.
He defected to Canada in 1987 Buday's sons Attila and Tamás, Jr. competed for Canada in three Summer Olympics, earning their best finish of seventh in the C-2 1000 m event at Sydney in 2000.
