Who is Unnikrishnan Puthoor?
Unnikrishnan Puthoor is a novelist and short story writer of Malayalam from Kerala state, South India. He has written several novels and over 200 short stories. He was awarded Kerala Sahitya Akademi award for Balikkallu novel in 1968. For the novel Anubhavangal Ner Reghakkal he got Guruvayoorappan Trust Odakuzhal award of the year 2010.
Born in the village of Engandiyoor, in Thrissur district of Kerala,Unnikrishnan Puthoor belongs to writers of modern era with vivid taste in selecting the topics. He started his career in college and parallelly worked as a newspaper correspondent for 2 years. Then he joined to Guruvayur Temple devaswom office as a clerk and retired as head of devaswom library establishment in the year 1987. He also served as a member of the Sahitya Pravartaka Cooperative Society and the Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy.
