Who was Takamine Tokumei?

Takamine Tokumei was an Okinawan interpreter. His other name was Gishitetsu. He was ordered to learn harelip surgery and successfully performed the surgery for the grandson of King Sho Tei, Sho Eki, under general anesthesia.
