Who was Josef Haiböck?

Josef "Pepsch" Haiböck was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Josef Haiböck joined the Austrian Bundesheer in 1956 and retired in 1977 as a Generalmajor. During his career he was credited with 77 aerial victories in 600+ missions.
