Who is A. Gopalakrishnan?

A. Gopalakrishnan is the former chairman of Indian Atomic Energy Regulatory Board. He is a well-known figure in the field of nuclear power, nuclear safety and nuclear non-proliferation.

He was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the International Convention on Nuclear Energy convened by the IAEA in 1993. He is notable for his strong criticisms against India Government's move to sign the INDO -US Nuclear agreement in 2010. He is a strong opponent of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission's steps to set up nuclear power plants at Jaitapur and Koodankulam by using foreign technology and imported nuclear plants.
