Who is A.J. Hateley?

A.J. Hateley is an English artist and illustrator working primarily in digital mixed media, often within the publishing and videogame industry. Hateley studied at the University of Derby and graduated as Master of Design in Visual Communication in 2012. In 2010 Hateley was a finalist in the Northern Design Competition hosted by Leeds Metropolitan University. In 2012 Hateley was the winner of the Penguin Design Award.

Her ongoing illustrative project "Thirty Days of Videogames" was featured in July 2011 on the North American videogaming website Game Informer. The project was also featured by international videogame culture website Kotaku.

Hateley's book jacket designs have appeared on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, Jake West: Keeper of the Stones by M.J. Webb and on The Earth is my Ant Farm by Allen Cooke. Other notable illustrations include her work for Animal Farm by George Orwell and The Outsider by Albert Camus.

She is the co-founder of the British-based video game apparel company 'Gametee'
