Who is Aiko Melendez?

Aiko Shinoji better known as Aiko Melendez, is a Filipino former councilor and a former actress. Her father was an actor named Jimmy Melendez who has Japanese and Spanish blood. In the late 1980s, she was discovered by Regal Films where she signed a contract there and became one of Regal Babies. In 1995, her half-brother named Jam Melendez also entered showbiz.

She ran for councilor in barangay elections in Quezon City in 2003 and won. Aiko Melendez was the councillor of the 2nd District of Quezon City for 4 years through 2008.

Melendez was married to actor Jomari Yllana from 2000-2003. Melendez and Yllana have a son named Andrei. In 2006, Melendez married Martin Jickain. Her marriage with Jickain was in the process of annulment.
