Who is Alan Gilsenan?

Alan Gilsenan, Irish writer, director and film-maker.

A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin – he won First Class Honours in Modern English and SociologyGilsenan received the inaugural A.J. Leventhal Scholarship. Gilsenan was also editor of The Piranha while at Trinity. He has since made a number of award-winning documentary films about Ireland.

He is currently chairperson of the Irish Film Institute, a member of the Irish Film Board, and of the Board of the International Dance Festival Ireland.
