Who is Azza Besbes?

Azza Besbes is a Tunisian sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympian, and also, the sister of Sarra Besbes, who competed in the women's épée at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Besbes represented Tunisia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in the women's individual sabre event. She excelled through the preliminary rounds by defeating South Africa's Jyoti Chetty, France's Léonore Perrus, and Canada's Olga Ovtchinnikova in the preliminary rounds. Besbes, however, reached only the quarterfinal match of this event, where she was outclassed by U.S. fencer Rebecca Ward, with a sudden death score of 14–15.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Besbes qualified for the second time in the women's individual sabre event, along with her teammate Amira Ben Chaabane. She defeated Hong Kong's Au Sin Ying in the first preliminary round, before losing out her next match to another American fencer Dagmara Wozniak, with a score of 13–15.
