Who is Bruce Jenks?
Bruce Frederick Edward Jenks OBE served as director of the Bureau for Resources and Strategic Partnerships of the United Nations Development Programme 1995 to 2009/2010.
Jenks holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Oxford University and Master of Arts degrees from Cambridge University and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Washington, DC.
In 1981, Jenks joined UNDP and was assigned to a variety tasks. He was appointed director of budget in 1990 and as director of Office of the Administrator in 1993. He was appointed by the UN Secretary-General as the first director of the United Nations Office and UNDP Representative in Brussels in 1995.
Jenks is the father of filmmaker Andrew Jenks. Andrew is the host of MTV's World of Jenks reality docu-series.
Jenks was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to the UNDP.
