Charles Billingsley

Who is Charles Billingsley?

Charles Billingsley was a junior in high school when a friend dared him to sing for his Sunday school class. From the first note he sang, he felt very comfortable and natural, like he was doing what he was meant to do.

In 1992, the day after his graduation from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, he began his solo career.

He married Shae in 1994, the same year that he joined NewSong as their lead vocalist. After two successful years with NewSong, he ventured out as a solo artist. Over the next several years, he continued to travel, averaging over 200 concerts a year. He and Shae were blessed with the births of their sons Caleb in 2000 and Cooper in 2001.

In 2002, the Billingsleys moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, where Charles became the worship pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church and the artist-in-residence at Liberty University. During this time, he began laying the groundwork for what is now the Center for Worship at Liberty University.

In 2005, Charles was given the opportunity to work with Dr. David Jeremiah as the worship leader for Shadow Mountain Community Church and Turning Point Ministries in San Diego, CA.

After two years, Charles returned to Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty University. He currently shares his time between the church, teaching at the Center for Worship, and continuing his solo career. He is also the President of Red Tie Music, a publishing company based out of Thomas Road and Liberty University.

In his career of almost 20 years, Charles has performed over 2,800 concerts in over 2,000 churches around the world. He has released over 25 projects, written dozens of songs, and leads over 100,000 people in worship for various conferences each year. His versatility and adaptability as an artist and worship leader make Charles in demand all over the country.
