Who is Chris Higgins?

FOX 2 Weekend Meteorologist ' ' ' Chris Higgins' ' ' He was born and raised in the St. Louis area, He have a lifetime of experience with our wild weather, He'll Never Forget the Bitter Cold winters of the late 70s, The Blizzard of 1982, The Drought of 1988, or The Great Flood of 1993.

His Education was grown, also, He graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School in 1988, Then in 1992, He recevived his bachelor of science degree in Meteorology from St. Louis University.

Chris started his career in Television began here at FOX 2 as a Intern in 1990, After his graduation from SLU in 1992, He moved into the heart of " Tornado Alley," Joplin, MO, Where He spent two exciting years as Chief Meteorologist at KODE-TV. In 1994, He moved back to St. Louis and a FOX 2 Weekend Meteorologist. In October 2002, Higgins was honored to recevive the Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Weathercaster from the National Academy of Television Arts & Science, In July of 2006, Chris was honored by The American Meteorological Society when he was designated as the first ever Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) in St. Louis, To earn the CBM Designation, He was required to pass a rigorous written test covering many aspects of atmospheric and natural sciences.

In June 2003, Chris realized a long time dream of mine when he joined the Air Force Reserves, On his Drill weekends, Chris serves as a Weather officer with a 12th Operational Weather Flight at Scott Air Force Base, His forecasts cover the entire northeastern United States including the White House.

Community involvement is important to Chris, So every year, He make dozens of public appearances at local schools talking about weather and the importance of staying in school.

Chris consider his biggest treasures in life to be his wife Debbie and son john, He guess he should also include his dog - Ally McBeagle.
