Who was Erich Elias?
Anne's uncle in Switzerland, Otto Frank's sister's husband, who financially helped Anne's father. Born in Zweibrücken, Germany. Was full partner in the the Michael Frank Bank from 1921, until 1929. During that time, he and Otto and Herbert Frank had also made a short business venture in the Netherlands. In 1929, he moved to Basel, Switzerland to run an agency for selling pectin, a gelling agent. In 1933, he helped Otto get a job establishing an Amsterdam office for the company he worked for: Opekta. When it turned out that this was impossible, he loaned Otto money to start his own business selling pectin. He had two children, Stephan and Buddy. He died in Basel, 1984.
