Who is Frances McDormand?

Frances Louise McDormand is an American film and stage actress. The wife of director and writer Joel Coen, she starred in some of his films, including her debut in Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, The Man Who Wasn't There, Burn After Reading, and most notably her Academy Award-winning performance as Marge Gunderson in Fargo, in 1996. She won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play in 2011 for her performance in Good People as Margie Walsh, and was nominated for the same category in 1988 for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire.

McDormand is also a three-time nominee of the Academy Award For Best Supporting Actress for her performances in Mississippi Burning, Almost Famous, and North Country, and has also been nominated for four Golden Globes, three BAFTA Awards, and an Emmy Award.
