Who is Gemma Whelan?

Gemma Whelan is a comedian and actress who lives in London.

As a comedian, she won the 2010 Funny Women Variety award for stand-up comedy.

On screen, she played supporting roles in several films and TV shows since 2006, including in the 2010 films Gulliver's Travels and The Wolfman. In August 2011, she was cast as Yara Greyjoy – renamed from "Asha" in the novels on which the series is based – in the second and third seasons of the HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones.
