Who is Gábor Fodor?
Gábor Fodor is a Hungarian jurist, liberal politician, the former president of the Alliance of Free Democrats, he held the position between 2008–2009. Fodor resigned due to the results of the European Parliament election, 2009. Fodor was Minister of Education between 1994–1995 and Minister of Environmental Protection and Water between 2007–2008. He was elected in an internal SZDSZ election to the post of party leader in June 2008 with 346 votes to 344. This was an unscheduled election prompted by problems around the verification of the result of the previous vote.
He was a founding member of the Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Union, he left it in 1993.
Fodor founded the Hungarian Liberal Party on 27 April 2013.
Interesting sidenote: as many of the leaders of the SZDSZ, he is tall: his height is 6 ft 6 in.
