Who is H. U. Weitbrecht?
Herbert Udny Weitbrecht was born to a German missionary in London, England in January 1851. His father John James Weitbrecht also spent time in India as a missionary. Even though he is known by his initials his given name was Herbert. His wife's last name was Stanton; this could be the reason that he has added it to his own name later in life, possibly to please her family.
