Who is Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani?
Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer bin Mohammed Al-Thani is the director general of the Al Jazeera Media Network, which is based in Qatar. He also served as chairman of the board of directors and president of the board of administration.
He is also the president of the Al-Gharafa Sports Club.
Before starting Al Jazeera, he joined the ministry of information in 1987 and then served as undersecretary to the minister of information until 1994.
He is the cousin of the former Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He is the 7th richest member of a royal family in the world.
