Who was Hamza Mirza?
Hamza Mirza was the eldest son of Mohammed Khodabanda, and his mother, Khayr al-Nisa Begum. He was a soldier and military commander who had considerable success in containing invasions both the Turks and the Tartars. He re vindicated the Tartar defeat of his general, Arez Beg, who was defeated and executed in battle. However in an effort to recapture Tabriz from the Turks he was either murdered or killed in late 1586.
