Who was Hubert M. Blalock?

Hubert Morse Blalock, Jr. (1926-1991) was an American sociologist who advanced the field of sociology through his work on sociological research methodology and social theory. He was educated at Dartmouth (B.A., Mathematics, 1949), Brown University (M.A.), and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Ph.D., Sociology, 1954). He taught sociology at the University of Michigan, Yale, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Washington. He served as president of the American Sociological Association (1978-9) and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1976.
