Who is Ilya Sherbovich?

Ilya Sherbovich is a Russian financier and one of the top 200 richest men in Russia according to Forbes Magazine (2017).

Mr Sherbovich was born on 23 December 1974 in Vladimir, Russia and holds a degree in business management from the Plekhanov Russian Economic University.

He founded and is President of United Capital Partners, one of the largest private investment companies in Russia. Mr Sherbovich spent 12 years at United Financial Group and was the 3rd largest shareholder after the company’s two founders by the time he left. Aged 26 he spent a year on the Supervisory board of Russia’s largest bank, Sberbank.

In 2002, he became President of United Financial Group, where he led a team of specialists who were considered to be the best in the country. When German Deutsche Bank decided to buy UFG in 2003, Mr Sherbovich oversaw the integration of UFG into the bank. In 2005 the National Association of Stock Market Participants recognised Mr Sherbovich as the “Best Investment Banker of the Year” and a year later Deutsche Bank was awarded “Best Investment Bank in Russia.”

Mr Sherbovich founded UCP in 2006, taking 20 members of his team at UFG with him. In 2013 UCP’s assets were valued by Forbes Magazine at 3.5 billion dollars. He owns the elite campsite “Ponoy River” in northern Russia. Guests include former US President Jimmy Carter, former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and former US Vice President Dick Cheney.

Mr Sherbovich is married with a son and a daughter.
