Who is Isak Lauritssøn Falck?
Isak Lauritssøn Falck was a Norwegian timber trader. He was born in Sandeherred; the son of merchant Laurits Christofferssøn. He settled in Risør in the 1620s, and is regarded as the founding father of Risør. He acquired several farms with associated forests, started saw mills, and established a shipyard at Badskjærholmen. In the 1650s, he bought the farm Randvik, which included the harbour of Risør and surrounding areas. The Netherlands were the principal recipients of the timber export, and Risør developed into a ladested under the jurisdiction of Skien.
