Jakob Tigges
Architect, Person
Who is Jakob Tigges?
Jakob Tigges is a "young German architect and academic who became known through a series of artistic and provocative urban design proposals", such as his iconic proposals for Berlin and Chicago, dubbed The Berg, 2009, and ChicagoSkyScrapesBack, 2010. In 2011 his office Mila won the competition for the new exhibition architecture of Berlin’s famous Ethnological Museum and Museum for Asian Art with a proposal that sends the exhibited objects on a hovering journey through the city castle’s rooms in subtle opposition to the static nature of the reconstructed architecture all around. His projects overcome the disciplinary boundaries between art, architecture and communication and have been awarded with prestigious prizes within different disciplines.
