Who was James Browne Angell?
James Angell was professor emeritus of electrical engineering at Stanford University.
Jim Angell was born on Staten Island, N.Y. on December 25,1924. He received his bachelor's (1946) master's (also 1946) and PhD (1952) degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 1952 until 1960 he worked for Philco on transistors and other semiconductor devices, particularly on high frequency devices. He came to Stanford in 1960, and was promoted to full professor in 1962. He was director of the Stanford Solid State Affiliates program from 1964 to 1970, and was chair of the Admissions Committee of the Electrical Engineering Department from 1969 until his retirement in 1990.
