Jerzy Hawrylewicz was a Polish footballer. Teams include Grunwald Choszczno, Arkonia Szczecin, Stal Stocznia Szczecin, PogoĊ Szczecin, and VfB Oldenburg. On 20 April 1992, during the match against SC Hannover, the then 33-years-old collapsed on the pitch with a heart attack. Since then, he suffered from persistent vegetative state syndrome and hovered between consciousness and a kind of deep sleep until he died on 13 February 2009.
