Joe Soptic is the subject of a television ad by the pro-Obama superpac Priorities USA, in which the former steel worker accuses Mitt Romney's private equity firm Bain Capital of being indirectly responsible for the death of Soptic's wife from cancer when he was laid off and lost his health insurance. Critics have pointed out that Mrs Soptic had her own health insurance at the time he lost his job.
