Who was Johann Heinrich Frey?
Schweizer Theologe, Lehrer und Musikförderer. 1830 zum S.M.C. ernannt und zunächst weiteren theologischen Studien in Berlin obliegend, widmete er sich seit seiner Rückkehr nach Basel dem Lehrerberuf und bekleidete hier von 1884 bis 1873 das Rektorat der neugegründeten Realschule. Als begeisterter Sänger und Förderer des Volksgesangs gehörte er zu den Gründern der Basler Liedertafel.
