Who was Julius Breyer?

Julius Breyer (1893-1921) was an internationally famous chess player and theoretician. He was one of the four prime movers of the so-called "hypermodern chess movement," along with Nimzovich, RĂ©ti and Tartakower. Breyer won national and international tournaments, and he set a new blindfold chess record (in 1921) by playing 25 games simultaneously. His brilliant career was tragically cut short when he died of heart disease, aged only 28.
