Who was Julius Kollmann?
Julius Kollmann war ein deutscher Zoologe, Anthropologe und Anatom.
Kollmann war 1862 Privatdozent, ab 1870 außerordentlicher Professor in München und 1878 ordentlicher Professor für Anatomie in Basel. Er veröffentlichte Arbeiten zur Entwicklung der Zähne, zum Bindegewebe (hauptsächlich der Wirbellosen, wie z. B. Weichtiere) und zur Entstehung des Blutes. In weiteren Werken befasste er sich mit verschiedenen europäischen Volksgruppen. Kollmann verfasste Lehrbücher über Anatomie und Entwicklungsgeschichte. In einem seiner Werke beschrieb er ein europäisches Zwergenvolk aus vorhistorischer Zeit.
Er war Mitglied des Corps Suevia München.
