K. Vijay Kumar

Who is K. Vijay Kumar?

K. Vijay Kumar is the son of Mr. Krishnan Nair and Mrs. Kousalya. He is the second son in a family of six. He graduated from St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, and then went on to complete his post-graduation from Madras Christian College .

He is an officer in the Indian Police Service and was the Chief of the Special Task Force that was behind the encounter of notorious bandit Veerappan. In 2008, he was chosen to head the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

On 1 October 2010, Kumar was appointed Director General of Central Reserve Police Force.

On 11 December 2012, the Union government appointed him as Senior Security Adviser in Home Ministry.
