Who is Lewis Cardinal?

Lewis Cardinal is a Canadian activist and the founder and owner of Cardinal Strategic Communications. He is known for his involvement in community service and has served as the chair of Aboriginal Voices Radio, and serves on the boards of the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, the Bissell Centre Board of Governors, the Edmonton Public Art Committee, and the Fort Edmonton Management Company. He has also been involved with the Aboriginal Commission on Human Rights and Justice, Little Warriors, Edmonton Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee. Lewis has received a number of awards for his work, including the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award from Grant MacEwan College, the 2008 Anti-Racism Award from the Northern Alberta Alliance on Race Relations, the 2007 National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation Award for Public Services, and the Alberta Centennial Medal for work in Human Rights and Diversity.He has a B.A. in English, a B.Sc. in Journalism, and a B.A. Film Studies from the University of Colorado. Lewis is from northern Alberta, Canada and a long-time resident of Edmonton, Alberta. He is married to Patricia Cardinal and has two children.
