Who was Margaret Holford?
Margaret Holford was an English poet and translator. Her mother, also Margaret Holford also wrote, and their works are said sometimes to be confused in bibliographies.
Holford was baptised on 1 June 1778 in Chester, and married Septimus Hodson, chaplain to the Prince of Wales, in 1826. She died in Dawlish, Devon, on 11 September 1852.
Her first published and most successful work was Wallace, or, The Fight of Falkirk, published in 1809 in the wake of Scott's Marmion of 1808.
