Who is Maria Catherine Callahan?
Maria Catherine Callahan is an American singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon. In the 1990s Callahan was lead vocalist, guitarist and co-songwriter for the critically acclaimed power pop Portland, Oregon band, Doris Daze. Doris Daze released two albums, Uncle and Perpetual Happiness Machine before disbanding in 1999.
A multi-instrmentalist who is admittedly "A little too fond of the recording process", Callahan has had several cameo appearances on local musicians' albums throughout the years. Callahan released her country album, Dry following a ten-year hiatus from music. Her most recent single, "Break My Heart Again" was released in 2013.
In 2012, Maria co-founded Molly Miller Band with drummer Charles Nelson, but disbanded it in 2013. She is currently a member of the Portland-area country cover band Panther Creek and sits in as a vocalist and instrumentalist in a number of other bands, including The Ryan Oetken Band and Concrete Cowboys. Maria also currently performs in an all-female Merle Haggard Tribute Band called Gerle Haggard, that she formed in April 2013.
