Who is Nil Maizar?

Nil Maizar is a former Indonesia national football team manager. He is also former Indonesia national football team player and notable as strong defender who had joined Sparta Prague in 1990. Before appointed as a national manager, Nil Maizar was a manager of Semen Padang.

As a manager, his quality has been proven to improve the achievement of Semen Padang. He has different touch with the players and more like as motivator. He transmuted exiles, aging, and ordinary players be a powerful squad in one team and led the club to reach fourth position in 2010-11 Indonesia Super League, although performing as a promotion team. They hold 100% unbeatable record in home matches in that season. He also put elementary foundation for Semen Padang to gain their first title in 2011–12 Indonesian Premier League.

Following his success with the club, The Football Association of Indonesia decided to employ Nil Maizar as a senior coach. During The Football Association of Indonesia conflict, Nil remained standing with his boys although he lost several key players, fund, and lack of government support. With his ability as motivator and combine unknown players, he transformed Indonesia into good character team. It was proven while 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup, his squad defeat Singapore who become triumph in the end, and give stiff resistance to Malaysia as defending champion, although Indonesia was an underdog. However, Indonesia finally lost and eliminated from the tournament.
