Who is Richard Kaner?
Richard B. Kaner is a synthetic inorganic chemist, whose work spans across many areas of expertise. He is well known for his research in the fields of conductive polymers, superhard materials and carbon compounds, such as fullerenes and graphene. Richard Kaner holds a joint appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as the Department of Material Science and Engineering at UCLA.
Richard Kaner is involved with outreach programs geared to teaching new scientific concepts to high school teachers as well as making online videos. He has served on the board of directors for California NanoSystems Institute. Richard Kaner is the 2009 recipient of the Tolman Award from the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society medal and has been appointed as an adjunct professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, in Australia.
