He is the youngest of three brothers to have played professionally, brothers Neil Kelly, Wakefield Trinity, Dewsbury Rams, Hunslet, Featherstone Rovers and Andrew "Andy" Kelly Wakefield Trinity, Hull Kingston Rovers, Illawarra Steelers.
