Who is Rihanna?

Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known by her stage name Rihanna, is a Barbadian recording artist, actress, and fashion designer. Born in Saint Michael, Barbados, her career began when she met record producer Evan Rogers through mutual friends in late 2003. She spent the next year traveling to the United States recording demo tapes under Rogers' guidance. Her demo tape was eventually shopped to several record labels and subsequently signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for its president, rapper Jay-Z. Rihanna's debut and second studio albums, Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me, both peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart. The albums spawned the Billboard Hot 100 top three hit single "Pon de Replay" and her first number-one single "SOS."

Rihanna came to prominence following the release of her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad and its lead single "Umbrella", which was a major breakthrough in her artistic career. The album was later reissued as the Reloaded version in 2008 and spawned the number one hits "Take a Bow" and "Disturbia." It was nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Umbrella" and is currently Rihanna's best-selling album in the country to date. Rihanna has released an album every November since 2009, including Rated R, Loud, Talk That Talk, and Unapologetic, which became her first number one album on the Billboard 200. The albums produced the international hit singles "Rude Boy", "What's My Name?", "S&M", "Where Have You Been", and "Stay", as well as some of the best-selling singles of all time, including "Umbrella", "Disturbia", "Only Girl", "We Found Love", and "Diamonds". In addition to her solo work, Rihanna has collaborated with numerous other artists, including being featured on the worldwide hits "Live Your Life" and "Love the Way You Lie".
