Who is Robert F Dougherty?
Robert Dougherty is the Research Director at the Stanford Center for Cognitive and Neurobiological Imaging. Bob specializes in the measurement of perception (psychophysics) and structural and functional measurements of brains using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He also writes software that is used for behavioral testing and MRI data analysis. He received his BA from Rutgers University in 1991 and his PhD in experimental psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1996. Bob worked as a postdoc in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of British Columbia and BC's Children's Hospital Visual Neuroscience Lab. It was there that Bob began to investigate the perceptual aspects of reading and reading disabilities. He continues to study reading development as project lead of the NIH-funded SIRL Longitudinal Reading Study.
