Who was Ruth Judith Klee?
Ruth Goslar (October 23, 1901–October 28, 1942), born Ruth Judith Klee, was the mother of Hanneli Goslar, who was a friend of Anne Frank. She was a teacher. Ruth died in 1942 during childbirth.
Ruth was born in Germany to Jewish parents. She married Hans Goslar in the mid-1920s. The couple strictly observed religion. She gave birth to a daughter, Hanneli, in November 28, 1928. In 1933, after Adolf Hitler came to power, Ruth and her family escaped to Amsterdam. There they became close friends to the Franks. Ruth gave birth to another daughter, Gabi, in 1940.
Ruth was expecting another baby, in 1942. She died while giving birth to that baby.
Her daughters, Hanneli and Gabi, survived the Second World War, and Hanneli today lives in Israel.
