Soon after the completion of his Junior High School studies in April 2007, Sam Okona announced to school mates that he considered rap as a soul, life, wife, book, talent and everything he had ever wished for in life, as a young boy who writes his own raps (songs) through inspiration. In early September 2007, Sam Okona was admitted to Takoradi High School. He then studied Business Management and other courses without leaving behind the music addiction. Sam Okona started pursuing his music career as a quizzer, comedian, and MC for which he even competed in a "Quiz Competition" against school mates in senior high school and won the Prize for this competition, specifically during his second year class in 2009 at the age of 17 and also in 2010. Sam Okona then went on to make his first Mixtape which is called ''Check The Beans'' early February, 2009 that featured some of his school mates. The ''Check The Beans track'' gained a massive recognition and positive critics in the school including around the city as well. During that same year, he also featured in a friend's Mixtape entitled ''My Baby Mama''. In October 2010, after the completion of his Senior High School studies (Business Management, Economics, Typing, Computer, Office Duty etc.), he then joined his parents back in Abidjan to pursue his music career. In March 2012, Sam Okona recorded his second Mixtape called ''Babi Conquer'' with the Instrumentals of Eminem's "No Love'' song. The ''Babi Conquer'' which was recorded in KC JARMA STUDIO at Deux Plateaux (2 Plateaux) as a result it received a massive critic positively and negatively after his first performance in JOLLOF BAR - ARAS 2, Treichville which peaked at a higher position in most clubs. After two months later, Sam Okona recorded his first Dance floor/Electronic song entitled ''Eternity Love'' which also gained recognition but unlike his previous Mixtapes. After two years of silence, Sam Okona returned to the music scene in early 2015 with an emotional, epic, sorrowful song dubbed ''Douleur '' which Featured his colleague Rodrigue Israel and (Jaden Rayms, the sound engineer; and A member of the Ivorian-based Nigerian music group known as BTI BOSS) recorded in the month of March and released on the internet for free downloading and streaming two weeks after. ''Douleur''; A song that aimed at pain, hustle, suffering, false accusations and allegations, hope and achieving success. Eventually, it gained much recognition all around of Abidjan more than any of his previous hits. Soon after the release of his single ''Douleur'', Sam Okona took it to another level by recording another inspiring song known as ''Dear Mama'' which Featured Rodrigue Israel and Capitaine Greg, purposely dedicated to the memory of his late Mother, Lost Souls and to all Mothers around the world. This time around, everybody who had listened to his "Dear Mama" song, automatically transformed into Music Lover and became a fan of Sam Okona. The themes of most of Sam Okona's songs revolved around the violence and hardship in inner cities and other social problems. Both his parents were Ghanaians who traveled to Abidjan in the mid of 1970's in search of greaner pastures, and to make their children lives better. His late Mother was a prophetess before she passed away of a serious sickness in July, 2014 whose ideals mostly reflects him in his songs. His late father also passed away in early 2016.
