Who is Seyed Masoud Noori?

Dr. Seyed Masoud Noori is a lawyer and Islamic issues researcher, focusing on the relationship between Sharia and the international human rights law system. In addition to a PhD in Private Law, he has more than 20 years of experience in studying, teaching, and researching Islam-especially the Shi’a school- at Qom seminary, one of the most important seminaries in the Muslim world. In 2013 he was a senior scholar in residence at Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, New York University School of Law. In 2012 he taught as a visiting professor at Emory Law School. In 2011 he was a visiting scholar at the Irish center for human rights.

Before all these he was faculty member of Department of Law, Mofid University, a member of the academic council of the Center for Human Rights Studies and a member of Council Law Clinic at that university. He has served as deputy director and director of research and education for the CHRS. In April 2007 he and his colleagues in CHRS founded the first academic legal clinic in Iran, and then the first "Special Human Rights Law Library" as well as the first academic journal of Human Rights in the century. He also has taught various legal and Islamic issues in other Iranian universities, including the Shahid Chamran and Ahl al-Bayt University. Additionally, his work experience includes working with United Nations Children's Fund, United Nations Development Programme, and International Committee of the Red Cross as well as International Bar Association.
