Shilpa Gupta

Who is Shilpa Gupta?

Shilpa Gupta is a contemporary Indian artist, who lives and works in Mumbai. She has studied sculpture at the Sir J. J. School of Fine Arts from 1992 to 1997.

Gupta is an interdisciplinary artist who uses sound, video, photography and performance to capture and explore themes such as desire, religion and security issues.

Exhibitions included: Sound Art: Sound as Medium of Fine Art at ZKM Media Museum, Karlsruhe and Paris, Mumbai, New Delhi at Centre Pompidou, Paris.

Participation to biennales included: Gwangju Biennale, Korea, International Triennale of Yokohama in Japan and the International Biennale of Contemporary art of Sevilla.

She collaborates with gallery Yvon Lambert, Paris.
